What’s in a Name?

Lesson Learned:  Jesus has many names in the Bible.

Materials Needed: magnetic alphabet letters or piece of paper and a pencil

6 For to us a child is born,

   to us a son is given,

   and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

6 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

   KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Talking Points:  Jesus has many names.  He is called the Son of God, our Savior, Jesus, Counselor, God, Father, Prince of Peace and more!

Questions:  What are some of Jesus’ names?  What are some of the names of your friends? What are your first and last names?

Use magnetic alphabet letters to spell out the child’s name and then Jesus’ name(s).  Let them play with the letters on the refrigerator or other magnetic surface.  An alternative is to write his/her name on a piece of paper, and let them practice “writing” the letters themselves.

The Son of God is alive today
