Lesson Learned:  God wants us to walk in love.

Materials Needed:  4 sheets of large construction paper, scissors, tape, string

Bible Verse:
2 John 4-6

4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

Talking Points: God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, down from Heaven to earth.  While Jesus was here, He taught us all about God and showed us how to live a life pleasing to God. Above all, Jesus told us to love one another. He told us to walk in love. When we walk in love, we share our toys, our favorite foods, and our hugs with our family members, friends, and maybe someone you don’t even know very well. Loving others and walking in love is the most important thing we can do and it pleases God.

Questions:  Does loving others please God?  How can you walk in love?

Activity: On one sheet of the paper, draw an “L”.  Cut the letter out. (Older children may be able to do this themselves).  Repeat for the letters “O”, “V”, and “E”.  Cut four pieces of string approximately the same size as a hallway.  Tape up the string.

Let the child help you tape up the letters in a hallway so that it spells “LOVE”.  Have fun walking through the hallway singing a song about LOVE. (A good song would be Jesus Loves the Little Children).

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You so much for loving us so much that You sent Your Son to save us.  Help us to love others and to walk in love just as You have commanded us.
