Lesson Learned:   God had special clothes for Aaron, one of the first priests, to wear.

Materials Needed:  several strips of colored pieces of construction paper (1 in x 12 in), paper plate, scissors

Bible Verse:
Exodus 28:1-5
1 “Have Aaron your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, so they may serve me as priests. 2 Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and honor. 3 Tell all the skilled workers to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest. 4 These are the garments they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a woven tunic, a turban and a sash. They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so they may serve me as priests.  5Have them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.

Talking Points:  A long time ago, there weren’t stores to go buy clothes at.  People had to make all of their clothes by hand.  Just like God provides everything for us, God provided Aaron, one of God’s first priests, with Aaron’s clothes.  Aaron was a priest and he taught the people about God.  God wanted Aaron and his sons, who were also priests, to wear something very special when they prayed. So, God instructed some men to make some very special clothes for Aaron to teach in.  God provided Aaron’s clothes for him, just like He provides for us.

Questions:  Do you have a favorite outfit you like to wear to church?  What does it look like?  Why do you like to wear it?

Activity:
Cut several slits in the paper plate.  Give the child a strip of paper and let them weave them through the paper plate. Explain to them that they are learning a new skilled called weaving!

Prayer:  Dear God, we know You don’t care what we look like or what we wear, but thank You for giving us clothes to wear and special outfits to wear to church. Amen!
