Lesson Learned:  God wants us to speak kindly to others.

Materials Needed:  2 or 3 stuffed animals

Bible Verse:
Ephesians 4:29
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Talking Points:  God does not want us to be mean to others or say unkind things to them.  God wants us to be a light for Him, but when we are being mean or our voices sound ugly, we can not be light for Him.  God wants us to say nice things, like “I love you”, “you look nice”, “thank you for sharing”, “would you like to play with me?”

Questions:  Can you think of something nice to say about your brother/sister?  Is telling your sister to “stop looking at me” (or “I don’t love you” or “I don’t want to play with you”) a nice thing to say?  Do you think God likes it when you tell your sister this?  How would it make you feel if someone said those things to you?

Activity:  Role play with child, using the stuffed animals, with the animals being kind to one another and sharing toys.  Show the child how the animals use kind voices and build each other up the way God wants us to.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, please help us to let no unwholesome talk come out of our mouths. We want to speak kind words to our sister/brother today. Amen!
