Lesson Learned:  Jesus is God.

Materials Needed: 2 bowls, whole milk, 4 different colors of food coloring, q-tip, dish soap

Bible Verse:
Colossians 1:15, 19
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,

Matthew 1:23
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Talking Points:  We have been learning all about who Jesus is.  He was a teacher, teaching us about god.  He was a priest, praying for us and caring for us.  He was a King and leads us.  But did you know that Jesus IS God?  Jesus came down from heaven as the image of the invisible God so that He could live here on earth with people for a short while.  Jesus was a teacher, a priest, a king, and He is God.  He is all these things all at one time. Only an amazing, loving God could be everything all at once.

Questions:  Was Jesus a priest? Was He a fireman? Was He a King? What else was He?

Activity:
Fill up 2 small bowls with whole milk (whole milk works better than low-fat/skim).  In one of the bowls, put one drop of each color of food coloring in the bowl.  As you drop in each different color, say “Jesus was a Teacher, Jesus was a Priest, Jesus was a King, Jesus was God”.  You will have four different colors of food coloring in the bowl when you are done. Put the dish soap on the end of the q-tip and touch it to the milk and watch what happens.

In the second bowl, let the child put in the food coloring and as they do so, repeat “Jesus was a Teacher, Jesus was a Priest, Jesus was a King, Jesus was God” for each color.

Since the cute video I had wouldn’t upload, this pic was copied from

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are our teacher who teaches us, our Priests who prays and cares for us, our King who leads us, and our God who loves us. We will never know how You can be all these things at once but we are glad You are. Thank You for loving us. Amen!
