Lesson Learned:  God made the world.
Materials Needed:  coloring sheet  of the world (see link below), crayons
Bible Verse:
Genesis 1:9-10
9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
Talking Points:  God made the land we walk on and the water we swim in.  He made the mountains and He made the oceans.  Talk to the child about landmarks around your house that they know about, such as a favorite lake you walk around or a hike you take in the hills.  Tell them how God made them long before they were even born.
Questions:  Have you ever seen mountains before? Have you ever seen the ocean?  What did they look like?  Did God make them?
Activity:
Color the world. You can print off a template from here:

Or you can draw one and have the child color it in.

Song to Sing:
He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands
He’s got the whole world in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands.

He’s got my brothers and my sisters in His hands,
He’s got my brothers and my sisters in His hands,
He’s got my brothers and my sisters in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands.

He’s got the sun and the rain in His hands,
He’s got the moon and the stars in His hands,
He’s got the wind and the clouds in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands.

He’s got the rivers and the mountains in His hands,
He’s got the oceans and the seas in His hands,
He’s got you and he’s got me in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands.

He’s got everybody here in His hands,
He’s got everybody there in His hands,
He’s got everybody everywhere in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands.

Prayer:  God, you created the whole world.  You hold us all in the palm of your hands and we ask you to watch over us and protect us in this world. Amen!
