Lesson Learned:  God protects us.

Materials Needed: newspaper, piece of cardboard from an old cereal box, paint, pipe cleaner, tape

Bible Verse:

Psalm 3:3
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Talking Points:
God protects us.   He keeps us safe and guards us.  God is our Heavenly Father and He loves us,  just like your mommy and daddy here on earth.  When you are scared or need help, pray to God and He will be like a shield to protect you.

Questions:
Do you know what a shield is?  When do you think you might need a shield?   Are you glad God is like a shield to protect you?  Is there anything you’d like to pray for now that God could help you with?

Activity:
Make a shield with your child.  Put newspaper down to protect your work surface.  Cut out the shape of the shield from the back of a cereal box.  Let the child paint the gray side of the box with paint.  When it is dry, tape the piper cleaner on the back for the handle.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us and being our shield to protect us. Amen.
