Lesson Learned:  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Materials Needed: bread, milk, food coloring, q-tip, several small bowls

Bible Verse:
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 6:29-35

29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Talking Points:  There is only one way to get to Heaven.  Jesus tells us over and over again in the Bible that this is the truth.  Believing in Him and following Him will be the only way You can see God some day.  Knowing Jesus is as important to us as eating food everyday. He even calls Himself the bread of life.  We need Jesus in every part of our life and that is the truth!  Remember this truth as we celebrate this Easter season.

Questions:
What does “truth” mean? To illustrate what truth means, ask them questions like “I have red hair; is that true?”  “I have blue eyes; is that true?”  “Jesus loves You; is that true?”  Did He come to save you?

Activity:
Pour 1/4 cup of milk into the small bowls.  Let the child pour the food coloring into the milk. Using the q-tips, dip them in the milk and paint the bread with the milk. Be careful not to get the milk too wet.  Toast the bread after it dries and enjoy your snack!

Prayer: Holy Father and Lord, You loved us so much You sent Your Son, Jesus, to save us.  We know that we need You to live and know the truth about You.   Help us to know and remember the truth in everything we do. Amen!
