Lesson Learned:  God wants us to stay on His path; His path is abundant life!

Materials Needed: box, construction paper, scissors, glue

Bible Verse:
Proverbs 16:11
11 You make known to me the path of life;
   you will fill me with joy in your presence,
   with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
   and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
   and he will make your paths straight.

Talking Points:
God has a plan for us and when we obey His commands and pray that we that we will do His will, we walk on that path and can have abundant life.  When we disobey or wander away from what He tells us to do, we get lost and He has to get us back on the right path.  When you go hiking, you have to stay on the right path so you don’t get lost or get bitten by snakes.  Just like it is dangerous to get off the path while you’re hiking, it is dangerous to get off the path God has laid out for us.  We should pray to always stay on the right path!  God wants to keep us safe and have abundant life.

Questions:  Why is it important to stay on the right path when you are hiking?  If we get lost, who do you think saves us?

Activity:
Glue a piece of construction paper to one side of the box.  Decorate the box with paths (and trees and whatever else seems fitting).  Cut out a simple car to drive along the path.  The child can just play on the path, or like we did, you can pretend to get lost off the path and ask for directions to get back on.

Prayer:    Dear Lord, we know you have a purpose and a path for us to follow.  Helps us always stay on track! Amen!
