Lesson Learned:  You have an important choice to make.
Materials Needed: old cereal boxes, pencil, scissors, finger paint, construction paper, glue, marker
Bible Verse:
Matthew 7:13-14
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Talking Points:  Life is like a road. When you drive somewhere like the ice cream parlor, you probably took a road to get there.  Your parents had to follow a certain path to get to the ice cream shop; if they went a different direction they wouldn’t have ended up at the store and you wouldn’t have gotten any ice cream.  They had to make a choice on which way to go so they’d end up at the right place.
Someday you will have to make a very important choice.  Will you follow Jesus and go with Him to Heaven? Or will you take your own road without Jesus?  The right choice is to follow Jesus but unfortunately, there are many people who do not want to follow Jesus and try to go through life all on their own without God’s help.  I pray that someday, my child, you will decide to follow Jesus and choose to go through the narrow gate with Jesus into Heaven!
Questions:  Is the gate to heaven narrow or wide? Who can you follow to get on the right path to go to Heaven?
Activity:
The Gate
Draw several fence “pieces” with the pencil on the back of the cereal boxes and cut out. Trace around the fence pieces on the construction paper like an outline for the child to glue them on. Let the child glue the fence pieces onto the piece of construction.  Take a paintbrush and paint the fence with finger paints.  With the marker, write the word “Heaven” above the fence when the child is done painting.

Prayer: Dear God, please help us to make good choices. We don’t want to follow anyone but You.  Please lead us to the road that Jesus is on and through the narrow gate. Amen!
