Lesson Learned: God wants us to tell others about Him.
Materials Needed: empty paper towel roll
Bible Verse :
Jonah 3:1-5
Jonah 3:1-5
1 Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”
3 Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
Talking Points: God wanted Jonah to go to a city called Nineveh and tell everyone there about Him. He told Jonah to walk through the city shouting “Forty more days and Ninevah will be overthrown.” God wants us to tell other people about God because He wants everyone to know He is real and believe in Him.
Questions: Why does God want us to tell others about Him? Who can you tell about God today?
Activity:
Have the child walk through the house, calling out through the paper towel roll this message: “Forty more days and Ninevah will be overthrown” or something like “Everyone believe in God”. Choose a message appropriate for the age of your child.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for encouraging us to tell others about you and for giving us the words to use. We love you and thank you for all you give us. Amen!
