Lesson Learned:  God wants you to surround yourself with those that love Him.

Materials Needed:  Pair of shoes, small bowl of water, rag

Bible Verse:
Luke 9:5
5 If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

Mark 6:11
11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

Acts 13:51
51 So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.

Talking Points:  When Jesus sent His disciples out to share His message and tell others about Him, He warned them that some people would not welcome them.  He told them not to stay too long in those places but instead to “shake the dust off your feet” and move on.   God does not want you to feel bad about not being welcomed in those places or have bad feelings toward those people.  Instead, shake it off and be done with that place.  God wants us to live in community with other believers and to share our lives with others who also love Jesus.

Questions:  Has anyone ever hurt your feelings by not wanting to play with you? What did you do?  What do you think Jesus would tell you to do?

Activity:   Let your child “shake off the dust” of an old pair of their tennis shoes.  You could even let them polish them up using a rag and a small bowl of water.

Prayer:  Dear God,  please bring Godly people into our lives and help us to surround ourselves with others that love You. Amen!
