Lesson Learned:  Some things are a mystery to everyone but God.

Materials Needed:   white paper, white crayon, watercolors, paintbrush

Bible Verse:
Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Talking Points:  God knows everything.  He knows everything about us–when we are happy or sad–, He knows about how the world was made–what makes the leaves turn yellow and the snow fall down–, what the stars are made of, and how all the animals were made.  Some of these are secrets that only God knows and others He tells us in the Bible.

Questions:  Have you ever had a secret that you needed to keep?  Was it hard to keep it a secret? Why do you think God keeps some things  a mystery to us?

Activity:   Before you sit down with the child, write a message to them with a white crayon on a white piece of paper.  After you read the scripture verses, let the child paint the paper with watercolors with the paintbrush. They’ll discover a secret message!

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I thank You for everything You teach us through Your Word in the Bible. You are so great that we will never understand everything about You.  Thank You for being so big! Amen!
