Lesson Learned: Jesus lived in Heaven with God before He was born.
Materials Needed: construction paper, scissors, ribbon, marker, hole punch
Bible Verse:
John 6:51
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Talking Points: Jesus is sometimes called living bread in the Bible because we need Him in our lives just like we need food. Jesus lived in Heaven before He was born with His Father, our God. He came down from Heaven to be born in Bethlehem. That is another reason His birth is SO special and we celebrate His birthday at Christmas!
Questions: Where did Jesus live before Mary had Him in Bethlehem? Can you think of anyone else that lives in Heaven (like God or angels)?
Activity: Make a bookmark with your child. Cut out a 2 in x 6 in strip of construction paper. Write Jesus name vertically on the piece of paper. Let the child decorate the bookmark with crayons or stickers. Hole punch the top of the bookmark and put the ribbon through. You can use this for a bookmark or hang it on your tree. (Preschoolers may want to practice writing Jesus’ name themselves.)
