Lesson Learned:  God knows everything we do, even if others don’t.

Material Needed:  none

Bible Verse:
Matthew 10:1-4
1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Mark 10:29-31
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Talking Points:  We’ve been learning all about Jesus’ friends, His disciples, and reading about them in the Bible.  There are some Disciples that we know a lot about.  There are others that hardly have anything written about them.  Just because there isn’t much written about them, doesn’t mean they weren’t important to God.  James left everything he had behind to follow Jesus, his family, his homes, and his job.  People may not know what James did but God does and he will be rewarded for it in Heaven.

Questions:    How many Disciples can you name?  What kinds of things do you think Jesus’ friends did?  Do you think they liked learning from Jesus? Why?

Tune of “Jesus Loves Me”

Jesus called them one by one,
Peter, Andrew, James and John,
Next, came Philip, Thomas too,
Matthew and Bartholomew.

Chorus-
Yes, Jesus called them,
Yes, Jesus called them,
Yes, Jesus called them,
He called them one by one.

James the one they called the less,
Simon, also Thaddeus,
Twelfth apostle Judas made,
Jesus was by him betrayed.

Repeat Chorus.
Matthias then took Judas’ place,
To preach to men of every race,
Paul three preaching trips did make,
And went to Rome for Jesus’ sake.

Prayer:  Holy Lord and God, You came to save us and You sent Your Son to show us the way.  Help us to believe! Amen!
