Talking Points: Not too long ago, we celebrated a special day called Christmas; Christmas is the day Jesus was born, His birthday. In a few weeks, we will be celebrating a very special day. This special day is called Easter. Easter is the holiday where we celebrate that Jesus returned to Heaven to be with His Father, God, in Heaven after Jesus died on the cross. God sent Jesus down to earth from Heaven to teach us about Him and to show us that if we trust and believe in Jesus we can go to Heaven one day too.
Questions: Do you remember celebrating Jesus’ birthday at Christmas time? How did you and your family celebrate? Why is Christmas special? Why is Easter special?
Activity: As you talk about Jesus, help the child arrange the toothpicks into crosses. Roll a glob of play doh into a ball. Stick the toothpicks into the ball to form the shape of a cross.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You so much for sending Your Son down from Heaven to save us and show us the way to Heaven. Help us fix our eyes on Him always. Amen!
