Lesson Learned:  God promised a savior a long, long time ago.

Materials Needed:  paper plate, scraps of fabric, permanent marker, gluestick

Bible Verse:
Isaiah 9:6
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Talking Points:    Long before Jesus was born, God had promised His people that Jesus would come.  God always keeps His promises.  He promised that His Son, Jesus, would be a wonderful counselor (someone you can talk to), mighty God, an everlasting father, and a prince of peace.   Jesus was born at Christmas time so He could do and be all of these things for us.  We need to remember how much God does for us every day because God is so great and mighty.

Questions:  Jesus had many names; can you name some we just talked about?  Can you think of other names people call Jesus and God?  Do you have any nicknames that people call you?

Activity:  On the scraps of fabric, write down the names you and your child came up with for Jesus.  Glue them onto the paper plate and hang up as a reminder of all the wonderful things Jesus is and was and will be forever.  Thank God for those things throughout the day.

Prayer:  God, thank You for always keeping Your promises.  You never change and always do what You say You will.  Thank You for sending Jesus just like You promised. Amen!
