Lesson Learned:  God is our friend.
Materials Needed:  picture of your child and his/her friends, construction paper, stickers, glue, contact paper (optional)
Bible Verse :
Proverbs 17:17
17 A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
James 2:23
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
Talking Points:  A friend is someone you like to hang out with and is someone who you play with and talk to.  A friend is someone who supports you and loves you, and you do the same for them.  God does all of these things when we have a relationship with Him; He is the best friend we can have.
Questions:  Who are some of your friends?  What kinds of things do you like to do with your friends?  Is God your friend?
Activity:
Find a picture of your child and his/her friends.  Cut out a rectangle from a piece of construction paper to “frame” the picture and glue the picture to it.  Let the child decorate the frame. If you have contact paper, you could laminate the picture to make it more durable for the child to play with.  (If you don’t have a photo, you could let the child draw a picture of their friends).

Song to Sing:
Jesus is Our Friend (sung to London Bridges)

Jesus is our friend today
Clap your hands, shout hooray
Jesus is our friend today
We love Jesus!

Jesus is our friend today
Stomp your feet, shout hooray
Jesus is our friend today
We love Jesus!

Jesus is our friend today
Turn around, shout hooray
Jesus is our friend today
We love Jesus!

Prayer:  Holy God, thank You for giving us our friends, (insert names), to play with and to love.  Help us to be good friends to them by listening to them and sharing with them.   Thank You for being our friend, too. Amen!
