Lesson Learned: God does not want us to harm others or be mad at them.
Materials Needed: old magazines
Bible Verse :
Exodus 20:13
Exodus 20:13
13 “You shall not murder.”
Matthew 21:21-22
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.
Talking Points: God loves everyone. We are all His children and He made each and every one of us. He made every single person in the world and He doesn’t want us to hurt any of His children. His sixth commandment is that we do not harm others.
Questions: Have you ever been hurt? How did you feel? What made you feel better?
Activity: Go through an old magazine with a child and pointing out pictures of various people, ask the child how they think the person in the picture is feeling. Ask them if they see anyone who looks sad and what might make that person feel better.
Song to Sing:
To the tune of “Jingle Bells.” (From DLKT website)
No other Gods, no idols
Don’t misuse God’s name
Keep the Sabbath holy
That’s God’s special day. HEY!
Honor your mother and father
Don’t murder lust or steal
No false tales, don’t envy
This is God’s great deal. HEY!
No other Gods, no idols
Don’t misuse God’s name
Keep the Sabbath holy
That’s God’s special day. HEY!
Honor your mother and father
Don’t murder lust or steal
No false tales, don’t envy

Prayer: Dear Lord, we do not want to hurt anyone. Help us to always remember other people’s feelings. Amen!
