Lesson Learned: God wants us to always tell the truth.

Materials Needed: books

Bible Verse:
Exodus 20:16
16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.”

Talking Points:  When someone tells you something that isn’t true, that is called a lie.  If I tell you that your shirt is green but it is yellow that is false.  If I tell you that your hair is red and it is red than that is called the truth.  One of God’s rules is to always tell the truth.

Questions:  If I tell your shirt is red but it is really green, is that the truth?  When does God want us to tell the truth? (always!)

Activity:
Go through some of your child’s favorite books and point out some “true” and “falses” in the pictures.  For example, that boy is wearing a red shirt? (Ask the child if that is true or false?)

Song to Sing:

To the tune of “Jingle Bells.”  (From DLKT website)

No other Gods, no idols
Don’t misuse God’s name
Keep the Sabbath holy
That’s God’s special day.  HEY!
Honor your mother and father
Don’t murder lust or steal
No false tales, don’t envy
This is God’s great deal.  HEY!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we want to obey all Your rules. Help us to always tell the truth. Amen!
