Lesson Learned: Stay away from danger.
Materials Needed: old magazines, scissors, piece of paper, glue stick
Bible Verse:
Proverbs 22:3
3 The prudent see danger and take refuge,
but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.
Talking Points: There are many things out there that are dangerous. That is why your mom and dad try to tell you about things that could hurt you. You aren’t allowed to touch a hot oven because if you do, you will get burned. You can’t play with knives because they are sharp and you can cut yourself on them. You aren’t allowed to cross the street by yourself because cars are big and can’t see you and you may get hurt. We can’t avoid all danger, but if we know that something is dangerous, than we are smart to avoid it. If you ever feel unsafe around someone or a man or woman is making you uncomfortable, you go straight to your mom or dad or someone else that you trust and let them know. God does not want us to stay in places that seem dangerous.
Questions: What are some things around the house that are dangerous? Why are they dangerous? What should you do if you feel like you are in danger?
Activity: Go through an old magazine with the child and cut out things that can be dangerous, e.g. knives, scissors, fireplace, etc. Talk about why these things could hurt them and/or why they should not use them without adult supervision. Then, glue them onto the piece of paper like a college.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being a shield around us and protecting us from evil. Help us to also be wise so that we can easily spot danger and get out of its path. Protect us please. Amen!
