Lesson Learned:  The Holy Spirit is like the wind. We can’t see it but we can feel it.
Materials Needed:  square piece of paper, straw, paper fastener, tape
Bible Verse:
John 3:8
8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
Acts 2:2-4
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Talking Points:  The Holy Spirit is part of God. The Holy Spirit helps tell us what is right and wrong and helps us know how God wants us to live our lives.  The Holy Spirit is like the wind; we can’t see the wind but we can feel it on our arms and legs and face and know it is there.  In the same way, when we have the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can feel it in our bodies and know it is there.

Questions:  Do you like the wind?  Can you see the wind? What happens on windy days? (the leaves shake on trees, paper blows around on the ground, etc)  Can you see the Holy Spirit? Do you think you have the Holy Spirit in your life?
Activity:
Make a pinwheel for the child to decorate and play with.

Step 1: Fold a square piece of paper in half twice. Unfold it so you can see the folded lines.

Step 2: Cut between the lines, at a diagonal towards the center of the paper. Stop about 1/2 inch from the middle. Do this in all four squares.

Step 3:  Fold up the loose edge and tape it to the center.  Do this will all four sides.

Step 4:  Place a paper fastener in the middle of the paper.  Cut a small hole in the straw and place the fastener through the straw also. Close the paper fastener and let the child have fun blowing the pinwheel around.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, You give us the Holy Spirit to direct our lives. Please fill us with the Holy Spirit and let us live according to Your words and promises. Amen!
