Lesson Learned:  God sometimes allows us to have trials so we get stronger.
Materials Needed: small bowl filled with uncooked oatmeal with 5-10 goldfish inside

Bible Verse Luke 22:31-32
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded
permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that
your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again,
strengthen your brothers.”

  Talking Points:

God wants us to be strong.  Sometimes we have to do something hard, sometimes called a “trial”, so that we can get stronger and do more for God.
Questions:
What does it mean to be sifted?  What hard thing have you had to do recently?

Activity:
The purpose of this activity is to show the child what sifting means.  Sifting means to carefully exam or to separate different items from a mixture.

Have the child “sift” through the oatmeal in a bowl to find the fish.

Prayer:
Please God allow us to learn your ways so that we may be strengthened in faith.  Thank you for loving us enough to always pursue us and sift out the bad things in us.  Amen.
