Lesson Learned:  God wants us to pray for one another.
Materials Needed:  several one inch wide strips of different colored construction paper, tape
Bible Verse:
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Talking Points:  God wants us to help each other by praying for one another.  Prayer is very important because that’s how we talk to God and ask Him for help and how we’re able to do the things God asks us to do.  We should pray for our friends and family so that they have God’s help, too.
Questions:  Who can you pray for today?  What will you pray for them?
Activity:  Make a prayer chain by taping the ends of the strips of papers into circles.  Each color represents a different person that your child will remember to pray for.  Pray for each person on the chain.

Song to Sing:

This is my commandment that you love one another,
That your joy may be full.
This is my commandment that you love one another,
That your joy may be full.
That your joy may be full,
That your joy may be full,
This is my commandment that you love one another,
That your joy may be full.
Prayer:  Heavenly Father, You love each and every one of us.  Be in our prayers for our family and friends and may they all be filled with the Holy Spirit! Amen!
