Lesson Learned: God tells us to give our worries and fears to Him.
Materials Needed: several pieces of scrap paper, pen or pencil, scissors
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Talking Points: God tells us over and over again in the Bible that we shouldn’t worry about anything. He tells us that the only thing that we should fear is God because God is in control of everything. God wants us to love Him and respect Him, just like He loves us. If you are ever scared of anything, you can pray to God to help you not be scared or worried about it.
Questions: What are some things that scare or worry you? Why? Did you know you can pray to God to help you not be scared or worried about them?
Activity: On the scrap pieces of paper, write down some things that the child said frightened him or her. Then pray with the child that God take away those worries. The let the child use the scissors to cut up the fears and get rid of them, just like God does for us.
