Materials Needed: wooden spoon or something else for child to hold
Bible Verse Exodus 17:8-13:
8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.
Talking Points:
We all need help sometimes. God often provides the help we need from friends or even strangers. We need to always be talking to God so we know that when the help our friends or strangers offer is from Him.
Questions:
Has God helped you do something recently? Has He ever used a friend to help you do something? When have you helped someone do something? Do you like helping them?
Activity:
Have the child stretch up their arms as high as they can, holding the wooden spoon, while you sing the song below. Have them stretch until their arms get tired. Have the adult or another child hold their arm for them when they get tired.
Song (Sung to the tune of Frere Jacques)
Have you had a kindess shown?
Pass it on. Pass it on.
God wants you so share it. God wants you to share.
Pass it on. Pass it on.
Wasn’t meant for you alone;
Pass it on. Pass it on.
God wants you to share it. God wants you to share it.
Pass it on. Pass it on.
Let it travel though the years,
Pass it on. Pass it on.
God wants you to share it. God wants you to share it.
Pass it on. Pass it on.
Let it wipe another’s tears,
Pass it on. Pass it on.
God wants you to share it. God wants you to share it.
Pass it on. Pass it on.
