Lesson Learned: Jesus was born so we could shine bright with His love!
Materials Needed: 2 sheets of large paper, scissors, stapler, cotton balls
Bible Verse:
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Luke 6:18
No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
Talking Points: God loves us more than anyone else, more than your mom or dad, more than your grandma or grandpa, more than anyone. God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to Earth so that we could learn about Him and learn to love like Him. Once we know about Jesus, we can become full of love too. When we are full of love, we shine like a bright star. Jesus tells us in these verses to not hide this love but to let it shines so that everyone can see it. Jesus was born so we could shine bright with His love!
Questions: Can you name some things that are bright? What are some things that help you see when it is dark? Should you hide your love for other people?
Activity: Place the two sheets of paper on top of each other and cut out the shape of a star. Staple 3/4 of the star’s edges together, leaving a hole big enough to stuff in cotton balls. Let the child stuff in cotton balls and when it is puffy, staple the remaining hole. Hang the star up high for all to see.
