Lesson Learned:  God wants Fathers to raise godly children.

Materials Needed:  construction paper, scissors, stickers, safety pin

Bible Verse:
Genesis 18:19
19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

Psalm 127:3-5
3 Children are a heritage from the LORD,
   offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

Talking Points:  You are a gift to your Dad.  God decided long ago that your dad would be your dad.  He also gives your dad special instructions in the Bible on how to be a good parent; God tells your dad that he must teach you what the Bible says and share with you the stories that are in it.  Most importantly, your dad should tell you stories about Jesus.  In return, you are to love your dad, show him respect, obey him, and listen to what he tells you to do.

Questions:  Do you know you are a blessing and a gift to your dad?  What’s your favorite thing to do with your dad?  What is something nice you can do for your dad today to show him that you love him?

Activity:  Help your child cut out a “reward ribbon” to make a “World’s Best Dad Badge” and decorate it with stickers.  Let the child decorate it and then help them safety pin in on Dad.
Prayer: Dear Lord, You knew my dad would be my dad a long time ago. Thank You for making me part of his family. Amen!
