yarn, heart cookie cutter, wax paper, cornstarch glue (recipe below)

Bible Verse

Questions

  • When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
  • Can you see your heart? Does God care what you wear?
  • What does God look at?

Activity-Making a Yarn Heart

Recipe for Cornstarch Glue:

Mix 1⁄4 cup of cornstarch and 1⁄2 cup of water in a saucepan, mixing until smooth.

Heat the mixture over medium heat until it’s thick and translucent. Allow it to cool to the touch.

Place wax paper on table. Put cookie cutter on the wax paper. Cut yarn into 1 inch strips. Dip strips into the glue. Push the yarn strips into the cookie cutter and repeat with the other pieces of yarn. Press the yarn flat. Gently remove the cookie cutter and allow heart to dry for several hours.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know our hearts. You look at us from the inside and not just by what we are wearing or what our hair looks like. Please keep our hearts pure. Amen.
