Materials Needed:  catalog from the mail, scissors, paper, glue
Bible Verse :
Ephesians 6:10-17
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Isaiah 59:17
He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.
Talking Points:  God wants us to always be ready to stand up for Him.  Just like we get ready to go each morning by putting on our shoes, our pants, and our shirts, God wants us to get ready each morning by reading His word and living like He tells us to.  It is very important to be ready to do what God asks at all times.  He wants us to be truthful and to know His word.
Questions:  What do you put on first when you get dressed in the morning?  What do you put on last? Why do you get dressed?
Activity:
Using an old magazine or catalog, go through it with the child and ask them to pick out items that resemble articles mentioned in the verses. For example, a hat for a helmet, a knife for a sword, a towel or coat for a cloak, belts, etc.
Then, cut them out for the child and let them glue the items onto a piece of paper.
Prayer:   Dear God, dress us in your armor so that we can stand strong against evil.  We want to be dressed in truthfulness and righteousness.  Amen!
