Lesson Learned:  Keep God’s word close to your heart.

Materials Needed: yarn or string, dry noodles (like ziti), permanent marker

Bible Verse:
Proverbs 3:3
 1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
   but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
   and bring you peace and prosperity.

 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
   bind them around your neck,
   write them on the tablet of your heart.

Talking Points:   We learned yesterday that Jesus taught people with parables or stories.  He does this because He wanted people to remember His lessons and his teachings. He wanted people to keep His teachings close to their hearts and to live how He told them to live.   This proverbs said to bind them around your neck, write them on a tablet of your heart.  God is telling them to keep His word close to us at all times and never forget His commandments.

Questions:  Where is your heart?  Did you know your heart never stops beating?  As long as it’s beating, we need to keep God’s words in our hearts!

Activity:
Make a noodle necklace with the child. Tie a large knot in one end of the string.  String the noodles on the necklace. Tie the ends together. If you want, you can write “Proverbs 3:3” on one of the center noodles.

Prayer:  You are marvelous and great, Lord.  Write Your commands in our hearts and help us never to forget them and always to live by them. Amen!
