Lesson Learned: We need to read the Bible everyday to grow our hearts and minds for God.
Materials Needed: baby pictures of your child
Bible Verse:
2 Peter 3:18
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
1 Peter 2:2-3
2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Talking Points: When you were first born, you were very small and you couldn’t even hold your head up by yourself. You drank lots of milk and soon you could hold up your own head, crawl, and babble. Soon after that you walking and talking and now look at you! You are running and singing and learning all about God every day. Isn’t it amazing how God has made us grow? God is the one that makes us grow and learn things and just like we need food and water and milk to make our bodies bigger and stronger, we need to read the Bible every day to make our minds and hearts grow bigger and stronger for God.
Questions: Do you remember when you were a little baby? What kinds of things do you think you ate to make you grow big and strong? Why does God want us to have strong hearts and minds for Him?
Activity: Look at your child’s baby pictures with them. Tell the story about the day they were born or share some other fun stories about things they liked, funny things that they did, etc.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we want to grow big and strong in Your Word. We want hearts and minds filled with You! Amen!
