Lesson Learned: We are Holy Vessels for God.
Materials Needed: spoon, cup of beans or rice, empty paper towel roll, empty tupperware container
Bible Verse:
Acts 9:15 (New King James Version)
15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
2 Timothy 2:21
21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
Talking Points:
God wants to use us for His Holy purposes. He wants to fill us up with Holy Spirit and use us in His plans. A vessel is something that holds things, like a jar or a cup. Sometimes we fill up a bottle of water so that we can use it while were out playing in the park or having a picnic for lunch. When we love God and are filled with the Holy Spirit, we are filled with His goodness and God can then use us for whatever purposes He wants.
Questions: What is a vessel? If you had a vessel right now, what kind of things would you put in it?
Activity: Let your child spoon the beans or rice throught the paper towel roll into an empty container (vessel). Explain to them that they are filling it up the same way God wants to fill us up with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we want to be Holy Vessels for You and do Your good works. Help us to fulfill the purposes You have for us. Amen!
