Lesson Learned: There is a time for everything.
Materials Needed: paper plate, marker, crayons, paper fastener, scissors, piece of paper
Bible Verse:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Talking Points: God knows when everything will happen. And everything happens at just the right time. There are times when we can be loud; there are times when we need to be quiet. There are times when we lose something and we need to look for it and other times we just need to realize that it is gone. There are times when we can pull out all our toys and times when we need to clean them up. There is a time for everything, and God’s timing of things is perfect.
Questions: Can you think of a time when it’s okay to be loud? What about a time when you need to be quiet? What do you think it’s time to do right now? Who has perfect timing in everything He does?
Activity: Make a clock. Cut out 2 arrows from the piece of paper (one big and one small). Fasten them to the center of the paper plate with the paper fastener. Draw numbers with the child around the edges of the plate like a clock with the marker. Then, let the child decorate the clock with stickers or crayons.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Your timing is perfect. Help us to be patient in remembering that. Amen!
