Lesson Learned:  It isn’t always easy to do what God asks us to do.
Materials Needed:  blocks or masking tape
Bible Verse:
Matthew 7:13
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Talking Points:  Following God and living your life the way God tells us to is not always easy.  In the Bible, Jesus says that it is easy to walk on a big, wide road and that’s what most people want to do. It is harder to walk on a narrow, small road and that’s what God wants us to do.  Sometimes it is hard to do what God wants us to, but it is always the better choice!
Questions:   Do you think it would be easier to help you walk on a big, wide path or a small, narrow path?  Who can you ask for help when you are on the narrow path?
Activity:
With the child’s help, lay down the blocks (or the masking tape) in two parallel rows about 4 or 5 feet apart. This is the wide road.   Then, lay down another set of blocks in two parallel rows about 6 inches apart.  Have the child walk through both “roads” and ask them which one was easier to walk through.
Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father, help us to stay on the narrow road.  It’s not always easy to stay on the right path, but we want to do what is right and live the way You tell us to.  Please help us to know Your Word and follow Your ways. Amen!
