Lesson Learned:  Jesus was willing to give up His life for us.
Materials Needed:  bread, grape juice, cups

Bible Verse :
Matthew 26:24-30
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Talking Points:  Jesus ate one final meal with His friends before His friend, Judas Iscariot (that we learned about yesterday), turned Him into the authorities.  He knew that this would be the last time He would ever get to eat with His friends.  He took bread and said, “Take and eat; this is my body.” He took a cup of wine and said, “Drink, from it all of you.”  Jesus was willing to give up His life, to offer His body and blood, so that we could live in Heaven one day.  This meal was symbolic to show us that He we need Him in our lives to live and see God, just like we need food and water to live.

Questions:  Would you be able to live without food and water every day?   Do you need Jesus in your life everyday? How can you spend more time with Jesus?
Activity:
While you are talking about the above verses and asking the children questions, take a piece of bread and let the child break it.  Pour them a cup of grape juice and drink it with them. Explain to them that just like we need food to live, we need Jesus to live.

Prayer:  God, You gave us Jesus so that we could know You and go to Heaven one day.  We thank You so much for giving us Your Son, the food for our souls. Amen!
