Lesson Learned: God wants us to enjoy His word.
Materials Needed: paper plate, marker, dry noodles, glue
Bible Verse:
Nehemiah 8:10-12
10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11 The Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.”
12 Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.
Talking Points: We have been learning all about God’s rules, or commandments. God tells us that these rules are to keep us safe and reminds us that we should be joyful about having these rules and all of the Bible to read and listen to. God wants us to read the Bible and study His word. It should be something enjoyable that we sing and praise Him for.
Questions: Do you enjoy your time with your mom or dad when you read the Bible or sing songs to Jesus with them? How do you feel when you pray? How do you feel when you listen to stories from the Bible?
Activity:
Let the child draw a happy face on the paper plate. Glue the noodles onto the plate for the hair.
Prayer: Holy God, You are our strength. Help us to understand Your Word and rejoice in it. Amen!
