Lesson Learned: God wants us to show kindness to one another.
Materials Needed: paper plate, brass paper fastener, crayons, small piece of cardboard (I used a small piece from the back of a cereal box)
Bible Verse:
Zechariah 7:8-9
8 And the word of the LORD came again to Zechariah: 9 “This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’
Talking Points: God wants us to be kind to one another. He wants us to help others when they need help. He does not want us to treat one another badly.
Questions: What kind things does your mommy or daddy do for you? What is something you do that is kind? Do you share your toys or your cookies with your friends? Do you think God likes it when you share?
Activity:
Step 1:
Step 2:
Divide the back of a paper plate into pie-shaped sections using a black marker or crayon. Using the crayons, have the child draw a picture inside each section of something nice they can do for their family and friends.
Step 3:
Attach the arrow to the center of the paper plate with the brass paper fastener.
Step 4:
Spin the arrow and have the child do the “something nice” that comes up on their plate when they spin the arrow.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be kind and generous to all people, especially those in need. We want to have hearts of gladness and compassion. Amen!
