Bible Verse
Exodus 25:1-9
1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. 3 These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 5 ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; 6 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.
8 “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.
1 Chronicles 28:19
19 “All this,” David said, “I have in writing as a result of the LORD’s hand on me, and he enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.”
Talking Points: God instructed Moses how to build a temple that God could dwell in among His people here on earth. He gave Moses very detailed instructions on how to build this temple. Moses had to listen well to get these instructions right. Moses, himself, did not build the temple but many years later, a man named Solomon built the temple according to God’s directions.
Questions: Why is it important to follow instructions from your mommy or daddy? What kinds of instructions do they give you?
Activity: Play “Simon Says” with the child to practice following directions. Simon says, touch your toes, Simon says jump up and down, Simon says spin around, etc.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for giving us instructions for our lives. Help us to be good listeners like Moses. Amen!
